Man Charged with Attempted Murder and Kidnapping on Chicago’s South Side

CHICAGO, IL – Melvin Jordan, 47, residing in the 7700 block of S. Marshfield, has been charged with multiple felony counts including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated kidnapping with a weapon, and two counts of aggravated unlawful restraint.

Jordan also faces one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. He will appear in Central Bond Court at 2600 S. California on September 1.

According to police, Jordan was arrested on August 29, at 1:15 p.m. in the same block where he resides. About an hour prior to his arrest, he allegedly brandished a weapon and unlawfully confined two victims inside a residence.

Responding officers were able to enter the premises, allowing the victims to escape unharmed. Jordan was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged.
