Somerset Man Charged for Crash that Killed His Two Passengers While DWI

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ – On Sunday, Franklin Township Police responded to a single-car crash on Somerset Street near Voorhees Avenue at approximately 6:22 a.m.

Amitoj Oberoi, 29, was found to be over the legal blood alcohol concentration limit and was charged with two counts of first-degree vehicular homicide on Wednesday.

Two passengers in the vehicle, Carlos A. Perez-Gaytan, 24, and Victor Cabrera-Francisco, 20, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third passenger, a 29-year-old male, sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention. Oberoi was transported to an area trauma center and is expected to recover.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Franklin Township Police. Oberoi also faces multiple motor vehicle violations and will be transferred to Somerset County Jail for further proceedings.
