Beachgoers Form Human Chain in Attempt to Rescue Drowned Man in New Jersey

BEACH HAVEN, NJ – A 24-year-old man drowned on Sunday at Fifth Street Beach despite a crowd’s effort to form a human chain for rescue.

The incident occurred in the afternoon at Fifth Street Beach in Beach Haven, Ocean County. Witnesses say that the man went under the water and did not resurface.

Bystanders quickly formed a human chain in a rescue attempt, while a helicopter circled overhead. Despite these efforts, the man’s body was recovered shortly thereafter.

Authorities have yet to release the identity of the victim. No additional information is available at this time.
