Man Airlifted to Hospital After Crash with 14-Year-Old ATV Driver

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – A collision between a dirt bike and an ATV on an intersecting trail off Grand Avenue resulted in serious injuries for one adult and minor injuries for a juvenile.

At approximately 11:57 a.m. on Sunday, the Township of Hamilton Police Department arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. The preliminary investigation showed that Patrick Austin, 27, of Egg Harbor Township, was operating a 2005 Yamaha dirt bike when he was struck by an ATV driven by a 14-year-old male from Mays Landing. Both drivers were wearing motorcycle helmets at the time of the accident.

Patrick Austin sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for treatment. The 14-year-old sustained non-life threatening injuries and declined medical attention at the scene.

The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics, JeffSTAT Transportation services, Mays Landing Fire Department, and Cologne Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
