Suspect Arrested in Deadly Weekend Shooting in Queens

QUEENS, NY – A 23-year-old male from Schenectady, NY, has been arrested and charged in relation to a fatal shooting that took place in Queens this weekend.

The arrest occurred on Sunday, September 3, at 2:30 AM. The suspect, identified as Shawn Singh of 1150 Sumner Avenue, Schenectady, NY, faces charges of Murder and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

The deceased was a 31-year-old male, Treva Sookmangal of 103-12 102 Street, Queens, NY. The original incident happened on Saturday, September 2, at approximately 4:19 AM.

Responding to a 911 call, police found Sookmangal with a gunshot wound to his chest at 101-12 125 Street. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation remains ongoing.
