D.C. Police Make Arrest in July 4th Shooting Death

WASHINGTON, DC – An arrest has been made in the July 4th homicide of Charles Antonio Stanton, 44, in Northeast DC.

Officers from the D.C. Metro Police Department were called to the Unit block of Patterson Street at 4:28 p.m. on Independence Day after a shooting was reported. Charles Antonio Stanton, the victim, showed no signs of life when officers arrived. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services confirmed the death, and Stanton’s body was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Brandon Smith, 38, was arrested on September 4th following a DC Superior Court arrest warrant. He has been charged with Second-Degree Murder while Armed.
