Brooklyn Man Groped Trans Woman Before Attacking Her in Bed-Stuy

BROOKLYN, NY – Ian Williams, a 22-year-old resident of Bedford-Stuyvesant, has been arraigned on charges including assault as a hate crime.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 17, at the Myrtle Avenue Station in Bed-Stuy.

Williams is accused of making a sexually suggestive gesture at a 22-year-old trans woman, groping her, and then physically attacking her.

He faces multiple charges, including third-degree assault as a hate crime, third-degree menacing as a hate crime, and forcible touching.

Williams was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court on November 1.
