Suspect Arrested in Clairton Murder Following Standoff in McKeesport

MCKEESPORT, PA – Edwin Wiley-Biggs, 42, was arrested this afternoon in connection to a fatal shooting in Clairton, ending a standoff with the Allegheny County SWAT team in McKeesport.

The initial incident was reported at 10:54 pm on August 25, when County 9-1-1 received a call about a single-vehicle collision in the 600 block of Miller Avenue in Clairton. First responders found a 51-year-old male inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives from the Allegheny County Police Department initiated an investigation and determined that the shooting had occurred in the 800 block of Miller Avenue. Through their investigation, detectives identified Wiley-Biggs as the shooter.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was located at a residence on the 700 block of Strawberry Way in McKeesport. Wiley-Biggs initially refused commands to exit the home, prompting the county’s SWAT team to respond to the scene. He surrendered peacefully shortly after and was taken into custody without incident.

Wiley-Biggs is charged with criminal homicide and persons not to possess a firearm. He is currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail, awaiting a preliminary arraignment.
