NYPD Makes Arrest in Deadly 2021 Hit and Run

BRONX, NY – Elric Vanderpool, a 27-year-old male from the Bronx, was arrested and charged on Thursday, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident.

The incident originally occurred on Friday, June 18, 2021, at around 11:22 pm near the Bronx River Parkway underpass and Southern Boulevard.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found an unidentified adult male with severe head and body trauma. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation revealed that a 2019 Mercedes Benz sedan struck the rear tire of the victim’s bicycle, causing fatal injuries.

Vanderpool has been charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death and is currently in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
