Teen Arrested for Attempted Carjacking at Bellevue State Park

WILMINGTON, DE – A 16-year-old male from Wilmington has been arrested following an attempted carjacking at Bellevue State Park.

The incident occurred on Thursday, at around 3:30 pm.

Officers responded to the main parking lot after receiving 911 calls. A 67-year-old victim reported being approached by the teenage suspect, who pointed a handgun and demanded the car keys.

The suspect fled on foot after the victim yelled for help.

The suspect was identified through security camera footage and was arrested the following day by Wilmington Police officers during a traffic stop. He faces multiple felony charges and is currently held at Ferris Juvenile Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.
