Abingdon Stabbing Suspect in Custody

ABINGDON, MD – A man is recovering after a stabbing incident in Abingdon on Monday.

At approximately 11:13 a.m., patrol deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3500 block of Woodsdale Road. Upon arrival, they found John Edward Leura, a 44-year-old resident of Aberdeen, suffering from a stab wound to the upper body.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division took over the investigation. Forensic Services Unit investigators also responded to collect physical evidence.

David Alexander Barmer, a 53-year-old resident of Abingdon, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody during a traffic stop.

Barmer and Leura are known to each other. Barmer is currently held at the Harford County Detention Center, awaiting an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
