False Claim by President Biden about Visit to Ground Zero Post 9/11 Debunked by Records

NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 11: New York City firefighters and journalists stand near the area known as Ground Zero after the collapse of the Twin Towers September 11, 2001 in New York City.

NEW YORK, NY – President Biden incorrectly stated he was at Ground Zero the day following the 9/11 attacks, despite evidence placing him in Washington, D.C.

During his speech at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, Biden said, “I remember standing [at Ground Zero] the next day and looking at the building.”

Contrary to the President’s claim, according to Fox News, C-SPAN coverage of Senate proceedings on September 12, 2001, confirms that Biden was in the nation’s capital. Fox News also confirmed Senate records indicate that not only did the Senate convene in the morning, but a classified briefing for senators also took place at 2:00 p.m. ET.

Further casting doubt on the President’s account, his own book does not mention a visit to New York City on September 12, 2001.
