Suspect in Multiple New Castle Theft Flees Police, Crashes Car

NEW CASTLE COUNTY, DE – On Friday, at approximately 12:36 a.m., Delaware State Police responded to a burglary in progress at Cloud High Vape and Smoke in Newark.

Daniel Tesfamihret, a 40-year-old from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was identified as the suspect.

Tesfamihret led police on a high-speed chase before crashing and fleeing on foot. He was apprehended with the help of a DSP K9. The suspect vehicle was found to have been reported stolen in June.

Tesfamihret is connected to five burglaries and thefts between August 15 and last Friday, stealing property valued at over $14,000 and causing damage valued at over $12,000.

He faces multiple charges and was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $20,000 cash bond.
