PATERSON, NJ – A May 22 event on West Broadway has led to multiple charges against Tommy Norberto, 20, and Jazyre K. Kearney, 21, including attempted murder and weapons offenses.

Local police found a 37-year-old Paterson resident with a bullet wound to her leg at the scene. She was rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for medical care. Additionally, a 35-year-old man from East Orange with a bullet wound to his hand sought treatment at the same hospital.

The arrest of Norberto took place on May 26, but information was not released until Kearney was also taken into custody on July 20. At the time of his arrest, Kearney gave a false name and had a weapon, resulting in extra charges of hindering apprehension, as per a collaborative statement from Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and the Paterson Police Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi.

In addition to the new charges, Norberto is also accused of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. He had been on parole since the previous December.

Both individuals are awaiting judicial proceedings while confined in Bergen County Jail.
