Police Continue Investigation into Unsolved Marlboro Rape

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Wednesday a renewed call for public assistance in solving a 2021 sexual assault case in Big Brook Park, Marlboro.

A joint effort between the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Bureau and the Marlboro Township Police Department continues to investigate the assault on a female jogger. The incident happened around 11:30 a.m., November 4, 2021, just off the Henry Hudson Trail in Big Brook Park.

The suspect is a tanned white adult male, possibly of Eastern European descent, with medium-length hair, standing 6 feet tall and weighing around 240 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants. Additional identifying features include a raised scar on one ear and a unique neck tattoo.

According to details released, the man attacked the woman, causing her to fall. He brandished a box cutter-style knife, inflicting minor injuries on her arms before sexually assaulting her. The assailant then fled in an unidentified direction.

Prosecutor Santiago thanked those who have provided information but emphasized the need for more leads. “We are confident that there is information out there and that a member, or members, of our community have valuable details that will ultimately assist us in making an arrest,” Santiago said.
