Fugitive Wanted for Newport News Murder Captured in Hopewell

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Ronald Lashawne Brown, wanted on charges including first-degree murder, was apprehended on Thursday in Hopewell, Virginia. The arrest came as a result of a joint operation between the Newport News Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Brown was wanted in connection to the August 3 homicide of Tahesha Saunders on 33rd Street. Additional charges against him include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Brown is currently being transported back to Newport News for booking. An updated booking photo is expected to be released once available.
