No Criminal Charges in Falling Death of 7-Year-Old Fort Lee Child

FORT LEE, NJ – A 7-year-old boy’s death from falling out of an upper-floor window at an Anderson Avenue residential complex has been ruled an accident with no criminal involvement.

The incident occurred on September 13 when the Fort Lee Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 5:29 p.m. regarding the child’s fall. The young boy was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident was led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Jason Love, in collaboration with the Fort Lee Police Department headed by Chief Matthew Hintze.

Both departments have confirmed that the incident was accidental and involved no criminal activity.

Prosecutor Mark Musella, Chief Love, and Chief Hintze expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the boy, as well as to the Fort Lee community.
