ALLENTOWN, PA – District Attorney Jim Martin and Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca announced the arrest of Chase Ryan Strahler in connection with a fatal crash.

Strahler faces multiple charges including Homicide by Vehicle While Driving Under the Influence and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

The incident occurred on October 2, 2022, at 12:50 a.m. on the 400 block of S. 24th Street. John Sassaman, 63, was found with fatal injuries and later died at a hospital. Strahler’s blood-alcohol content was 0.20 percent at the time of the crash.

An extensive accident reconstruction determined that Sassaman’s fatal injuries were caused by the crash with Strahler’s Jeep.

Strahler surrendered on Thursday and will be processed at Lehigh County Central Booking Center.
