Bronx Teen Arrested for Double Shooting that Left 71-Year-Old Woman Dead

BRONX, NY – A 71-year-old woman was fatally shot and a 34-year-old woman was injured during a shooting incident on East 138th Street in the Bronx Thursday morning.

A 15-year-old male has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, criminal possession of a loaded firearm, and reckless endangerment later in the day.

The arrest took place at approximately 5:35 p.m. within the confines of the 73 Precinct. The investigation into the shooting incident that resulted in the death of 71-year-old Enriqueta Rivera and the injury of a 34-year-old woman is ongoing.

Police arrived on the scene at approximately 12:37 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting two people shot. The officers found a 34-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her arm and a 71-year-old woman, with a gunshot wound to her back.

Emergency Medical Services transported both women to NYC Health and Hospital/Lincoln. The 34-year-old is listed in stable condition, while Rivera was pronounced dead.
