Middle-Aged Couple Dead in Murder-Suicide in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, MD – A well-being check led to a grim discovery as Allegany County Sheriff’s Office found two deceased individuals in a residence on Bedford Road.

Responding to the home on Thursday, September 14, deputies discovered a 56-year-old man and his 52-year-old wife dead. The Sheriff’s Office called for the support of the C3I Unit, the Maryland State Police Crime Scene Unit, and the Medical Examiner’s Office to assist in the investigation.

The preliminary findings indicate that the man killed his wife before ending his own life. Authorities have stated that there is no threat to public safety.

The case remains under investigation by the C3I Unit.
