Two Charged for Shooting in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Authorities have arrested Ikeem Thomas, 20, of Covington, Georgia, and Josiah T. Talbert, 20, of Somerset, New Jersey, for their alleged involvement in a shooting incident that occurred on March 1, 2022, on Sunny Slope Road in Bridgewater.

Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and Bridgewater Township Chief of Police John B. Mitzak made the announcement. According to Prosecutor McDonald, the Bridgewater Township Police Department received a 911 call on March 1 from a victim who reported gunshots fired at their vehicle. Officers spoke with the victim and confirmed no injuries were sustained from the incident.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Bridgewater Township Police Department conducted the investigation. Their findings led to the identification of Thomas and Talbert as the alleged individuals responsible for the shooting.

Thomas was arrested in New Brunswick on May 5, 2022, without incident. He faces charges of 1st degree Attempted Murder, 1st degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder, 2nd degree Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose, and 2nd degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. He is currently lodged in Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Talbert was arrested in North Brunswick on August 28, 2023, without incident. He faces the same charges as Thomas and is also lodged in Somerset County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
