Bronx Man Arrested and Charged in Deadly Stabbing of 23-Year-Old Woman

BRONX, NY – Authorities have arrested 35-year-old Shaheene Ahmad in connection with the fatal stabbing of Zariah Hayes, a 23-year-old woman from New York, NY.

Ahmad, a resident of 2552 Holland Avenue, Bronx, NY, faces multiple charges including Murder, Manslaughter, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He was arrested on September 15 at approximately 12:05 p.m., within the jurisdiction of the 49th Precinct.

The incident took place on September 14 at approximately 10:39 p.m., when police responded to a 911 call reporting a female stabbed at 2552 Holland Avenue. Officers arrived to find Hayes with multiple stab wounds to her neck. Emergency Medical Services transported her to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where she was pronounced deceased. A knife was recovered at the scene and Ahmad was taken into custody with charges pending.
