Police Find Man with Gun While Responding to 911 Call

UTICA, NY – On Friday, Utica Police units responded to a call at the intersection of Elm St and Eagle St regarding a male with a gun. Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect, Shamel Kornegay, 37, of Utica, and conducted a pat frisk, discovering a loaded .357 revolver.

Kornegay was arrested and transported to the Utica Police Department. He faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second and third degrees, as well as Criminal Possession of a Firearm.

The Utica Police Department conducted the arrest and charges were filed accordingly.
