35-Year-Old Queens Man Arrested in Connection with June Homicide

NEW YORK, NY – Dewayne Boone, a 35-year-old Queens resident, was arrested and charged on September 20 in relation to a homicide that occurred within the 114th Precinct.

Boone was arrested at approximately 3:15 p.m. and is facing charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

The deceased was identified as 33-year-old Tyrell Smith of 31-45 49 Street, Queens, NY.

On June 25 at about 12:20 a.m., the NYPD responded to a 911 call reporting a male shot at the intersection of 31 Avenue and Hobart Street. Officers arrived to find traces of blood. Subsequent investigation revealed that the victim, later identified as Smith, had been privately transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was pronounced dead.
