Child Bicyclist Critically Injured in Crash with F-150 Pickup

CROFTON, MD – A 12-year-old boy suffered critical injuries after being struck by a 1992 Ford F-150 pickup truck while riding his bicycle at the intersection of Johns Hopkins Road and Nantucket Drive.

The incident occurred on September 19 at approximately 6:25 p.m. Two children on bicycles were crossing Johns Hopkins Road from Nantucket Drive when one was hit by the eastbound pickup truck. The injured child was airlifted by a Maryland State Police Helicopter to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment.

The 59-year-old male driver of the Ford F-150, a resident of Odenton, Maryland, remained at the scene and was uninjured. The other child bicyclist was also uninjured.

The Traffic Safety Section is investigating the crash.
