CRANFORD, NJ – The Cranford Police Department is investigating a carjacking that took place last evening at a business located on the 300 block of North Avenue East.

Around 9:44 PM, police were called to the scene where the victim reported being carjacked while attempting to change a flat tire on their Mercedes SUV.

Two individuals, described as dark-skinned black or Hispanic males, approached the victim in a gray Porsche. After a brief altercation and threats to the victim’s safety, the suspects took off in the stolen Mercedes. However, the vehicle quickly became disabled due to the flat tire, prompting the suspects to flee in their Porsche onto the Garden State Parkway.

Residents are advised to maintain a heightened level of situational awareness, as there has been an increase in violent crimes involving car thefts in recent months in the area.
