NEWARK, DE – Delaware State Police have apprehended 35-year-old Ramone Shy of Wilmington, Delaware, for multiple thefts from vehicles in the Newark area early Saturday morning.

Troopers responded to several hotels in Newark following reports of vehicle break-ins and thefts of property. The investigation disclosed that during the night between September 22 and 23, an unknown suspect had broken into multiple vehicles at the Four Points by Sheraton, Hilton Inn, Town Place Suites, and Somerford House.

The suspect shattered windows to gain access to locked vehicles and stole cash, payment cards, and electronics.

Surveillance footage from a Newark ShopRite showed the suspect using one of the stolen payment cards. The suspect was driving a gray Chevrolet Traverse with dark window tint. Troopers located the occupied vehicle at a Newark Wawa, initiated a stop, and Shy fled on foot but was quickly apprehended after a brief pursuit.
