Threat of Violence at Park Valley Church Ends With Arrest

by Ryan Dickinson

HAYMARKET, VA – On last Sunday, at 10:12AM, officers responded to Park Valley Church on 4500 Waverly Farm Dr following reports of a potential threat of violence.

The investigation began when the Fairfax County Police Department was alerted by the Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland about suspicious online postings on Instagram. These postings, which contained vague threats of violence, included images of Park Valley Church.

The Anne Arundel police, leading the investigation, identified a potential residence for the accused in Falls Church. When Fairfax County police went to the residence, the accused was not present. However, information about a vehicle led Prince William County police to inspect the church property.

An off-duty Prince William County police officer located the vehicle in the church’s parking lot. Concurrently, church staff had been observing a suspicious individual, later identified as the accused, Rui JIANG, 35, of Falls Church. JIANG was detained near the church entrance without incident.

He had entered the church building and was found with a loaded handgun, an extra magazine, and two knives. JIANG was arrested and is currently held without bond. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Prince William County police at 703-792-7000.
