REHOBOTH BEACH, DE – Richard Bland, an 81-year-old man from Rehoboth Beach, died on September 19 due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash earlier this month on Coastal Highway.

The incident occurred on September 2 at approximately 5:42 p.m. Richard Bland was riding a silver 2010 Honda Cruiser in the left northbound lane of Coastal Highway, just north of Camelot Drive. A black 2018 Jeep Cherokee was stopped in traffic directly in front of the Honda. The Honda failed to stop and collided with the rear of the Jeep. The impact partially ejected Bland from his motorcycle, leaving him in the middle of the left lane.

Bland was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for critical injuries. He died on September 19 as a result of the injuries. The driver of the Jeep, a 55-year-old man from Randolph, New Jersey, was not injured in the collision.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the crash. Witnesses are urged to contact Master Corporal K. Argo at 302-703-3264. Further information can also be provided through private Facebook messages to the Delaware State Police or by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
