Fatal Hit-and-Run Claims a Woman’s Life in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Detectives from the D.C. Metro Police Department’s Major Crash Unit are investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on Tuesday night in Northeast D.C.

The initial investigation indicates that around 10:07 p.m., a woman was hit while crossing the road on 17th Street at Lang Place. The assailant, an unidentified dark-colored vehicle moving northbound on 17th Street, struck her down before speeding away from the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.

The incident occurred near the south crosswalk. Following the mishap, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. As of now, the deceased’s identity remains concealed until the next of kin is notified.
