Maplewood Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – On Friday, Maplewood Police Officers were summoned to Tower Dr after receiving a report concerning the theft of a wallet and a backpack from an unlocked motor vehicle.

On the same day, Officer Crayton was alerted by a Springfield Ave business manager about a recent shoplifting event.

The alleged thief, identified as 55-year-old Taurus McClain from Newark, was detained by Officer Crayton.

McClain, who had two active warrants, was also charged with shoplifting and was later taken to Essex County Jail.

In another incident, on Wednesday, a resident of Burnett Ter reported two separate thefts from an unlocked vehicle. Earlier on September 2, sunglasses were stolen, and recently, on Wednesday, loose change was reported missing from the same vehicle.
