NYPD Investigating Subway Hate Crime Attack

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department is requesting the public’s help in locating an individual connected to an assault at the Queensboro Plaza South subway station on the “7” line. The incident took place on Saturday, July 22, around 12:05 pm.

A 31-year-old male was reportedly at the mezzanine level of the subway station when an unidentified male approached him.

The suspect verbally attacked the victim with anti-Asian remarks before physically assaulting him, resulting in bruising to the victim’s left face. The victim declined medical attention at the scene. The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is now leading the investigation.

The suspect is described as a male, aged 30 to 40, 6’0″ tall, weighing 180 pounds, last seen in a black jean jacket, black shorts, white socks, white and black sneakers, and a white hat. Surveillance images of the suspect are available with the DCPI, sourced from the MTA.
