Utica Man Charged in Baseball Bat Attack on Jefferson Avenue

UTICA, NY – A male victim was assaulted with a baseball bat on the 1100 block of Jefferson Ave on September 10, prompting a response from Utica Police and Fire units.

The victim reported that an argument escalated between him and Gary Zayas, a 45-year-old man he knew, resulting in Zayas striking him multiple times with a baseball bat. The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital by the Utica Fire Department due to his injuries.

On September 28, an investigator with the Criminal Investigation Division located and charged Gary Zayas in connection to the assault.
