Newark Officials Warn of Potential Flooding Due to Heavy Rainfall

NEWARK, NJ – Anticipated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms this weekend may lead to flooded streets, urging drivers to exercise caution.

Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reports that several streets are at risk of flooding due to the expected downpour. Showers and a potential thunderstorm are forecasted for this afternoon, and another round of storms is likely before 2 a.m., possibly bringing heavy rain.

The Department of Public Safety is actively coordinating responses to flooding, burglar alarms, and other weather-related incidents, utilizing Police, Fire, and Office of Emergency Management personnel.

Drivers are advised to avoid certain locations that are highly susceptible to flooding.
