GREENSBURG, PA — On Friday, Westmoreland County’s Common Pleas Judge, Meagan Bilik-DeFazio, sentenced Frank Springer of Bolivar to 25 to 50 years in prison.

Springer was convicted in July for various charges, including attempted homicide, kidnapping, and aggravated assault.

The charges date back to January, when Springer attempted to kidnap an 18-year-old woman in Ligonier Borough.

Using physical force and a firearm, he tried to coerce her into his vehicle. A passing couple intervened, rescuing the young woman.

The jury’s deliberation lasted over four hours before they found Springer guilty on all counts. District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli expressed her satisfaction with the verdict and commended the bravery of the victim and her family.
