Fire at Paramus Macys Sparked by Electrical Transformer

PARAMUS, NJ – A rooftop transformer caught fire on the roof of the Paramus Macy’s store shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 1,, quickly becoming a three-alarm fire before being controlled.

Firefighters from Paramus, aided by colleagues from Oradell, managed to suppress the majority of the fire in approximately 30 minutes. The situation was declared under control just before 2 p.m., with only minor damage to the rooftop reported.

The impact of the fire on the building’s electrical supply remains unclear. A crew from PSE&G was called to assess the situation.
