Staten Island Man Injured After Dispute with Neighbor Ends in Gunfire

NEW YORK CITY, NY – A 41-year-old Staten Island man sustained a gunshot wound to the chest early Sunday during what has been described as a conflict between neighbors.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Pompey Ave. near Wilson Ave. in Eltingville.

Emergency services transported the man to Staten Island University Hospital North, where he remains stable.

Following the shooting, police detained a person of interest, though formal charges have yet to be filed.

This recent event follows another local incident from Sept. 22 where an 81-year-old man was fatally stabbed.
