Hunker Man Charged with Attempted Homicide During Domestic Disturbance

HUNKER, PA – In the early hours of Tuesday, Pennsylvania State Police, together with the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office, arrested and charged Kort Eckman (45) of Hunker, following a stabbing that significantly injured a woman.

The charges levied against Eckman include attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment.

Troopers, responding to a domestic disturbance report shortly after 1 a.m. at a residence on Armbrust-Hecla Road in Mount Pleasant Township, discovered Eckman had allegedly stabbed his mother several times while she was asleep.

Life-saving efforts were administered to the 78-year-old victim by troopers, who was later transported to Forbes Hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition.

Following arraignment on Tuesday morning, Eckman was remanded to Westmoreland County Prison.
