Man Armed With Two Shotguns Killed After Confrontation With Police

HUBBARD TOWNSHIP, OH – Last Tuesday night, an armed individual identified as Shawn M. Thomas, 55, of Hubbard, died following an officer-involved shooting on Hubbard-Masury Road.

Around 9:30 p.m., officers from various departments responded to a report of a domestic violence incident. Thomas, reportedly impaired, was armed with two shotguns.

When confronted, he fled into a nearby wooded area. Officers located Thomas around 10:30 p.m. near Van Ness Avenue, and upon brandishing his weapons, officers fired, injuring Thomas.

Thomas was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

 No officers were injured during the incident. Multiple agencies, including Brookfield, Hubbard City, and Liberty Township, assisted at the scene.
