19-Year-Old Charged for Stolen Vehicle

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA – A collaborative effort between the Albemarle County Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and the Augusta County Sheriff’s Department has led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with multiple motor vehicle theft cases.

The probe, focused on vehicle thefts across the county, unveiled intelligence hinting at the location of a purloined vehicle. This clue prompted Albemarle detectives to reach out to the Augusta County Sheriff’s Department, culminating in the stopping of the vehicle.

19-year-old Charlottesville local, Jonathan Sherman Barbour, was taken into custody by Albemarle County Police. He faces two charges of 18.2-95 Grand Larceny Motor Vehicle Theft and is currently detained without the option for bail.

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office has secured additional warrants against Mr. Barbour for offenses committed within their territory.
