Altercation in Campbell County Ends in Shooting

CAMPBELL COUNTY, VA – Campbell County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Thorn Lane due to reports of two men involved in a physical altercation.

En route, they were informed that one individual had been shot.

Upon arrival, deputies found a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen near Thorn Lane and Spark Lane.

The injured individual was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition. The other man, identified as Torrance Burks Jr., 26, of Rustburg, was taken into custody on Thorn Lane.

Burks faces charges of malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
