Student Charged for Brining Gun to James Kenan High School, Prompting Lockdown

DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. – A student was discovered with a gun at James Kenan High School on Tuesday, leading to a school lockdown.

The situation was brought to light after other students reported suspicions of a fellow student possessing a firearm on the premises.

School administrators, in coordination with local law enforcement, located the student in question, confirming the possession of the firearm.

The student was then peacefully removed from the school. Following a thorough check to ensure the safety of the premises, the lockdown was lifted and school continued as scheduled.

The school district emphasizes its zero-tolerance policy towards firearms on school property, stating that any violators will be dealt with to the fullest extent.
