Ephrata Man Sentenced for Trying to Lure Child into Human Trafficking

LANCASTER COUNTY, PA – Zakianny Maldonado, a 32-year-old from Ephrata, was sentenced on Tuesday to a prison term of 2 ½ to 6 years by Lancaster County Judge Dennis Reinaker.

Maldonado had earlier pleaded guilty in June to charges that included patronizing a victim of human trafficking and indecent assault of a minor under 16.

The case came to light in January, when the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Human Trafficking Task Force carried out an undercover operation.

Maldonado responded to an online advertisement and arranged a meeting for sexual activities with a supposed 14-year-old, leading to his arrest.

He will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
