Suspect in September Road Rage Gun Incident Arrested

PASADENA, MD – On the evening of September 22, 2023, around 6:00 p.m., an assault incident unfolded at the juncture of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and Mountain Road in Pasadena. A driver reported an aggressive encounter with an individual driving an ATV

. The victim explained that, while driving down Mountain Road, he shifted to the left turn lane, which led the ATV driver to believe he had been cut off.

The aggravated suspect then pulled up beside the victim’s vehicle, threateningly showing a small black handgun.

Soon after the incident, officers spotted an individual resembling the suspect’s description, wearing a green hoodie and sporting dreadlocks, navigating an ATV on Freetown Road towards Mountain Road. Although officers tried to apprehend the suspect, he evaded capture, disappearing near Freetown Road.

The alleged assailant was described as a Black male in his mid-twenties, adorned with long dreadlocks featuring bleached streaks, donning a green jacket or hoodie, complemented by darker trousers.

Detectives, using investigative techniques, successfully identified the suspect. On October 6, authorities located and apprehended Dale Johansen McKinney Jr., a 23-year-old resident of Odenton, Maryland, at a home on the 500 block of Kingdom Court in Odenton. Following a search of the residence, two loaded firearms, specifically a 9mm Canik handgun and a Stouger STR9 handgun, were seized. McKinney Jr. has since been arrested and charged in relation to the incident.
