Suspect Wanted in University District Bar Shooting Arrested

COLUMBUS, OH – A 20-year-old Columbus resident, David Allen Jr., wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that took place at a University District bar in July, has been apprehended by law enforcement in northeast Ohio. Allen was arrested on October 3 and is currently pending extradition.

The incident, which occurred on the 400 block of Tompkins St. on July 28, resulted in 23-year-old Nasier Reid being found unresponsive with a gunshot injury.

Reid was subsequently declared dead at the location. Preliminary investigations by detectives suggest that a confrontation between Reid and Allen transpired before the shooting.

Additionally, 21-year-old Jakai Watts has been taken into custody and faces charges for tampering with evidence related to the case.
