New Jersey Governor Murphy Rules Out Wife Tammy for Senate Seat

TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has stated that he will not appoint his wife, Tammy Murphy, to a potentially vacant Senate seat, should the embattled Senator Robert Menendez choose to resign. Menendez has faced mounting pressure from both Democrats and Republicans to step down but has so far resisted these calls.

In a direct response to questions regarding the possibility of appointing his wife, Governor Murphy said, “I don’t see any scenario where that would be the case.”

U.S. Congressman Andy Kim has declared his intention to run for the Senate seat, signaling a challenge to Menendez in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Senator Menendez is currently under indictment by a grand jury, facing charges of political corruption, bribery, and extortion.
