Newark Police Seek Alleged Armed Robbery Suspect

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Public Safety Director, Fritz G. Fragé, is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Damon Scott, 18, for questioning related to an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday, September 19.

At approximately 10 p.m., police responded to a call on Monroe Street near Ferry Street, where a woman was robbed by three males, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

The suspects, dressed in all-black clothing, stole the victim’s purse, which contained her cell phone, wallet with cash, debit and credit cards, and other personal items.

Damon Scott, described as 6’2” tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds, is sought for questioning in connection with the incident.

Director Fragé is asking anyone with information regarding Damon Scott’s whereabouts to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous tips provided to Crime Stoppers are kept confidential and may result in a reward.
