Early Morning Shooting in East Charlotte Leaves One Dead

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A fatal early morning shooting occurred in east Charlotte, resulting in the death of 34-year-old Simon Yemane Semere.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) reported that officers were called to a shooting in the 6600 block of Wenda Place at around 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Semere suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his family has been notified of his passing.

The CMPD has not released information regarding a suspect or potential motives behind the shooting.

This investigation remains open and active, with multiple departments, including CSI, Operations Command, and Victim Services, responding to the crime scene. The CMPD is asking anyone with information pertinent to this case to come forward as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Semere’s death.
