Fatal Pedestrian Accident Under Investigation in Prince George’s County

FORT WASHINGTON, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department is actively investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in Fort Washington. The incident claimed the life of 24-year-old Austin McCollum of Chesapeake Beach.

The collision happened on October 15, 2023, around 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of Indian Head Highway and Old Fort Road. According to the preliminary investigation, the driver was traveling northbound on Indian Head Highway when he struck McCollum, who was in the roadway.

The driver stayed at the scene of the accident. Authorities pronounced McCollum deceased at the location.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit of the Prince George’s County Police Department is leading the investigation. They are urging anyone with information related to this case to contact them at 301-731-4422.
