Why Your Windows Are Rattling in Central Jersey

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Residents across Central New Jersey have been hearing loud booms and experiencing low-flying aircraft, but the folks over at Joint Base MDL have assured residents surrounding the base, there’s nothing to worry about.

According to the Joint Base October 2023 ‘Noise Calendar’ heavy weapons training including mortar, artillery, helicopters and other low-flying aircraft have been ongoing since October 5th.

The training, at a ‘high noise’ volume warning will continue through Sunday, according to Joint Base MDL.

Police in surrounding towns, including Manchester have issued alerts warning residents of the anticipated noise levels.

The base did not specify which units would be training. The base his home to U.S. Airforce, Navy, Army and Marine Corps reserve and National Guard units.
